Potters ace makes Boro move
Stoke City, 11:37, November 17, 2009 ,
Stoke striker Dave Kitson has signed for Middlesbrough on a two-month loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 29-year-old, who joined the Potters from Reading in a £5.5million deal in summer 2008, has only scored twice in 23 league games for the club as he has struggled for first-team action at the Britannia Stadium. Kitson did spend time on loan at his former club Reading last term and scored twice in 13 outings at the Madejski Stadium.
Boro boss Gordon Strachan has made him his third loan signing since taking over last month following on from Birmingham striker Marcus Bent and Aston Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne.
Kitson, who scored 54 goals in 111 appearances in his first stint at Reading, has joined up with his new Boro team-mates and will be fighting it out with Bent, Leroy Lita and Marvin Emnes for a start in attack against Nottingham Forest at the Riverside on Saturday.
Strachan told the club's website: "I'm delighted Dave is coming in to bolster the squad's numbers and give us more options.
"I've been a fan of Dave's for a few years now. He is a good striker and another player for us to call on."
Kitson added: "I'm happy to be here and excited to be part of it. I'll do my best. And hopefully that will be enough to keep he club in the top positions.
"I've not had a chance to see any of Middlesbrough's games but I know they've got some great talent in the squad so I'm looking forward to it."
