Potters not resting on their laurels
Stoke City, 09:55, June 15, 2009 ,
Chief executive Tony Scholes says Stoke are looking to improve further next season after defying their critics by avoiding relegation.
The Potters were one of the favourites to make an immediate return to the Championship following their promotion in 2008. However they stunned the Premier League with an impressive debut campaign and comfortably finished in 12th position.
Despite their success, Scholes has spoken out to confirm that they are already busy trying to bolster their squad with new players as they want to avoid any possibility of relegation striking at the Britannia Stadium in their second season.
Indeed Tony Pulis' men will be aiming to build on the good work of last term and aim higher towards the top six places.
"Yes, we are looking at players," Scholes confirmed to the club's official website.
"It might be the summer but Tony (Pulis) and his team of people are still working very hard.
"There are still games that we are following and still international games that we've got scouts looking at.
"The work is being done, conversations are being held but you won't be surprised to hear me say that I won't comment on any individuals until any deals are done.
"I think it's always dangerous in any sport to rest on your laurels.
"You need to change things around, you need to keep things fresh and no doubt that Tony will be looking to improve wherever we can."
Punters looking to use a use a free bet could tip the Potters to improve on last season's points tally and extend their Premier League stay to a third season.
