Stoke will miss out on the signing of Michael Dawson, who is heading to QPR, but hope to wrap up a loan deal for Tom Huddlestone.
Reports claimed that Potters boss Tony Pulis was lining up a double raid on Tottenham to land both players, but it has now emerged that QPR have won the race to land Dawson. The two clubs have agreed a fee of £9million for the central defender, who will complete a move to Loftus Road once he has agreed personal terms and passed a medical. It is highly unlikely Pulis would have been prepared to pay that kind of fee anyway and will instead turn to Huddlestone, who can play in defence or midfield. Tottenham are happy to let the player leave on a season-long loan deal and Pulis is keen to link him up with former Spurs stars Peter Crouch and Wilson Palacios at the Britannia Stadium.
