Stoke braced for Upson bid
Southampton have yet to make a move for Stoke defender Matthew Upson, according to reports on the south coast.
Saints have long been linked with a move for the 33-year-old, who will be allowed to leave the Britannia Stadium at the right price, but as things stand no offer has been made. Nigel Adkins is keen to add some much-needed Premier League experience to the centre of his defence after winning promotion and Upson would certainly fit the bill. The player would also be happy to move to St Mary's if it meant regular first-team football and he will be hoping Saints step up their reported interest by making a firm bid. Stoke are looking for £500,000 which would not be a problem for Saints, although the player's wages might be.
