Stoke in Beye link
Stoke City, 09:32, July 1, 2009 ,
Newcastle's Senegalese defender Habib Beye has emerged as a possible target for Stoke City boss Tony Pulis.
The French-born right-back had pledged his future to the St James' Park side following their relegation but the club may wish to cash in to get him off their enormous wage bill.
Reports have now linked Stoke City with a move for the 31-year-old, who can also play at centre-half, as they look to build their squad ahead of their second year in the Premier League.
Former Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce signed Beye from French outfit Marseille in a £2million deal in 2007 and it is thought a similar fee would be enough to tempt the Magpies to sell.
However, the Potters may face competition for the talented defender's services, with Sunderland and Blackburn, where Sam Allardyce is now in charge, also linked with a move.
