Bent facing three weeks out

Sunderland, 09:10, November 25, 2009

Sunderland are waiting for scans on Darren Bent's hamstring complaint and fear he could be out for up to three weeks.

The striker felt a twinge during Saturday's 1-0 win over Arsenal but boss Steve Bruce could not replace him as he had already made all three substitutions.

It could prove to be costly as there are now fears that Bent could be facing a few weeks on the sidelines.

"Darren has gone away for a scan and we're not expecting the results back until Thursday or Friday, but there is a real worry that it is a hamstring strain," Bruce revealed.

"If that turns out to be the case, then we are looking at losing him for a minimum of three weeks. We will have to keep our fingers crossed."
