Bent fit for Villa clash
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed striker Darren Bent will be fit for Wednesday night's trip to Aston Villa.
The Black Cats top marksman twisted his ankle during the 3-1 victory over Birmingham on Saturday afternoon but managed to soldier on and complete the 90 minutes.
There had been concerns though that Bent may miss out at Villa Park but Bruce has now confirmed that the 21-goal striker will be fit enough to take his place in the side.
Bruce also has to decide whether or not to bring back Kenwyne Jones following a hip injury.
"Kenwyne had no chance of playing at the weekend and we will just see how he goes from here," Bruce added. "We've got Benjani available to take his place, as he did against Birmingham, so in that regard we've got to be grateful that we were able to bring in cover during the January transfer window.
"It would be nice to have Kenwyne back sooner rather than later but you've got to be careful with muscle injuries - they're very hard to predict."
