Sunderland are to step up their interest in Blackburn's Junior Hoilett following their relegation to the Championship on Monday night.

The 1-0 home defeat to Wigan sees Rovers drop back into the Championship and, along with it, went any hopes of keeping the talented Hoilett who is out of contract in the summer. North London giants Arsenal and Spurs have both been linked with the winger as have Bayern Munich and Marseille who are keen to take the young attacker abroad, but it is thought that the player would prefer to stay in the Premier League. Hoilett is in no rush to make up his mind and he will wait to see what other clubs come in for him during the summer before making a final decision on where he will play next season. Martin O'Neill is looking to add to his squad over the summer and the likes of Hoilett, who is available for a nominal compensation fee, is the sort of player he is after.
