Black Cats told to sharpen up
Sunderland, 13:15, September 24, 2009 ,
Boss Steve Bruce has told Sunderland they need to change their mentality if they are to become a force in the Premier League.
Bruce summoned his players for a team meeting at the start of the week after last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Burnley and left his squad in no doubt about the areas they need to improve.
Striker Fraizer Campbell said: "We had a meeting on Monday and the manager told us all that we need to change the mentality here.
"We need to hammer home games and finish teams off. We are hit and miss in the league, but I'm sure we can win more than we lose.
"I have not been here too long but the players say that there's a lot changing under this manager. The mood around the place is changing and you can see it among the fans.
"They are sensing that things are on the up here. People stop you in the street and tell you that they are enjoying seeing this side develop and we feel like it is. Things are definitely looking up here."
