Martin O'Neill has revealed that David Vaughan is closing in on a return to the first team following his summer surgery.

The Welsh international has had two hernia operations over the summer but is now on the road to recovery and featured for the first time in four months at the weekend.
The 29-year-old will now use the two week break to try and improve his fitness after he played for an hour in Kevin Ball's Under-21 side at the weekend in the draw with Spurs.
Martin O'Neill said: "David Vaughan is coming back to fitness now.
"He trained with us for a few days last week and played in the Under-21 game at the weekend.
"He will have a fortnight now to train and get some proper work in, and hopefully he will then come back raring to go."
