Bruce happy with top ten finish
Steve Bruce was delighted to see his side move up four places on the final day of the season and into the top ten.
The Black Cats boss had set a top ten finish in the Premier League as a pre-season target and to finally achieve that, courtesy of their final day victory at West Ham, has delighted the boss.
"To go up four places on the final day of the season and finish in the top 10 and above Newcastle for the third time in as many years is very pleasing for the supporters," he told the Chronicle.
"Two years ago, we were involved in the relegation scrap and stayed up because other sides lost.
"So to finish in the top 10 for only the third time in 55 years shows that we have made a bit of progress."
