Loan striker Michael Chopra has told new Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia he wants to go back to Premier League hopefuls Cardiff.
Chopra will return to Wearside this week under the orders of Sbragia so he can assess all of his options ahead of a potential relegation scrap at the Stadium of Light.
Chopra scored five times during his 11-match loan spell with Dave Jones' Bluebirds and has his heart set on a return to Ninian Park.
After featuring in Cardiff's 1-0 victory over Plymouth on Sunday, he said: "I'd love to stay and help Cardiff City get promotion. I've spoken to the chairman and manager over the last few days and told them I'd love to stay at Cardiff.
"They have told me they will do all they can to make that happen.
"I have made my intention known and it's up to the two clubs now. I just hope something can be sorted out because I like the way Cardiff play and things are happening here."
