Defender set for Black Cats

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is set to sign Paraguay central defender Paulo Da Silva on a free transfer this week.
The 29-year-old fell recently out of contract at Mexican side Deportivo Toluca and is now ready to test himself in the Premier League after turning down a new deal.
"First of all I want to thank the Deportivo Toluca for the effort they made and for giving me the opportunity to fulfill a dream, which is playing in Europe, it is certainly an important step in my football career," Da Silva told Toulca's website.
Da Silva has over 50 international caps to his name and will become the latest South American player to be snapped up by Bruce.
The former Wigan boss has previously signed the likes of Wilson Palacios and Maynor Figueroa while Latics new boy Hendry Thomas was identified by Bruce last summer.
