Sunderland have completed the signing of Paraguay skipper Paulo da Silva, who has penned a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old central defender was available on a free transfer after falling out of contract with Mexican club Toluca and becomes Steve Bruce's second signing of the summer.
"I'm delighted to have signed a player of Paulo's experience," Bruce said. "He is captain of his country and has played at the highest level in South America, so will bring leadership qualities to our side."
