Injury blow for striker
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has suffered another massive blow on the striker front with Danny Welbeck set for six weeks out
The Manchester United forward, on loan at the club until the end of the season, has had an exploratory operation on his knee that kept swelling up after matches and training and he is likely to be out for six weeks. That leaves Bruce, who would like to buy Welbeck on a permanent deal in the summer, desperately short up front and even more livid with Darren Bent for clearing off to Aston Villa. Bruce said: "It's hugely disappointing that Darren has decided that his future lies away from Sunderland and the players, our supporters and the club as a whole have every right to feel massively let down. "The timing is especially hard to take, given that we are progressing positively and are in a great position to push on.
