Keane calls for patience

Sunderland, 11:55, September 19, 2008 ,

Roy Keane has insisted Sunderland are making 'decent progress' but warned fans will need to be patient as new signings settle in.

The Black Cats boss brought in 10 players over the summer as he reshaped his squad ahead of the season but his side have made a stuttering start with an impressive win at Spurs the high point mixed in with defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City and a draw last weekend at Wigan.
Middlesbrough visit the Stadium of Light tomorrow with Keane admitting it will take time for all the new arrivals at the club to settle in.
"We have made so many changes to the club over the last year or two and we have to be a little patient with the lads that have come in," he said in his pre-match press conference.
"As good as players as they are you know it takes time to gel as a team but the quicker the better, but there has to be an element of patience there."
Keane added: "Our level of performance since we come back hasn't been too bad. There was the mad 20 minutes against Manchester City, other than that we have all made decent progress."
