Keane driven by steel

Sunderland, 11:28, September 15, 2008 ,

Roy Keane has dropped a big hint he will look to add some "steel" to his Sunderland squad in the January transfer window.

Keane cut a frustrated figure on Saturday after Egypt striker Amr Zaki extended his phenomenal scoring rate to five in five games with a late equaliser for Wigan at the JJB.
The Irishman brought back George McCartney and recruited Anton Ferdinand before the summer deadline passed, but will not stand still in his quest to turn Sunderland into a Premier League force.
Keane said: "The great teams have got a bit of steel in them. We got turned over here last year and we needed to be stronger than that. That will come from good players and good characters.
"I maybe felt we were a soft touch. Certainly that's something we need to improve and I'm working on it. It will take time. We're not a team yet. That will come in the next few weeks and months."
