Keano considers striker exit

Sunderland, 17:11, September 8, 2008 ,

Roy Keane has admitted Anthony Stokes could be allowed to leave Sunderland in order to get first-team football.

Stokes struggled for action last season but following the arrival El-Hadji Diouf, David Healy and Djibril Cisse, the Republic of Ireland youngster has slipped even further down the pecking order.
Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds have both been linked and Keane says he would consider letting him go either on a permanent or loan basis.
"It's something I might have to consider over the next weeks and months - if he doesn't force his way into my first-team," Keane revealed. "I haven't spoken to Stokesy about it but perhaps he would benefit from going out and getting 10, 15 or 20 games somewhere.
"Loan deals are something that can sometimes benefit players and benefit clubs, so that's something we maybe need to look at.
"He's more than good enough to play in the Championship, but if a big club like Leeds in League One came in, then that would be an option."
