Midfielder in line to face Wigan

Sunderland, 15:43, September 11, 2008 ,

Sunderland midfielder Teemu Tainio says he is fit to face Wigan on Saturday after overcoming a hamstring injury.

The midfielder has missed three games so far with the injury and lacks match fitness but feels he is ready to face Wigan at the JJB Stadium on Saturday.
Tainio told the Hartlepool Mail: "It was a strange injury for me because it was not really painful - the thigh just felt a little tight - but a scan showed that there was a small tear and I've had to miss a few weeks
"It's annoying. I didn't get a full pre-season because of my transfer here taking a couple of weeks to go through, so I need the games.
"I feel pretty strong and if the gaffer wants me on Saturday then of course I'd love to play.
"Hopefully I won't miss any more games through injury."
