Midfielder linked with Black Cats

Sunderland are being linked with a summer move for Millwall's highly rated midfielder Liam Trotter but face a battle to land him.

Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill is looking to strengthen his squad over the summer and Trotter is apparently on his shopping list. Newly promoted Southampton are also strongly linked and their boss Nigel Adkins knows the player well after signing him when he was in charge of Scunthorpe three years ago and he would like to land him again. Trotter has two years left on his current deal at the New Den and will command a fee but he looks likely to be moving on this summer and he is also wanted by Fulham.
