Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has revealed key forward Stephane Sessegnon could feature in the Premier League opener at Arsenal.

Sessegnon has an ankle injury and hasn't featured in pre-season but scans have revealed the injury is not as bad as had been initially feared. O'Neill admits he does not yet know whether or not the Benin international will feature at the Emirates on Saturday, but he will give Sessegnon every chance to prove his fitness. He told the Gazette: "Sessegnon hurt his ankle the other day, and had some more scans on Friday. "The news emanating from the doctor wasn't too bad. We're less fearful than we possibly were. That's decent news."
