Skipper praises wide man
Sunderland captain Lee Catermole believes James McClean has the potential to become one of the Premier League's top wide men.
McClean joined the Black Cat's from Derry City last summer and forced his way into the first team with a string of impressive performances.
His tally of six goals in 29 games earned him a call up to the Republic of Ireland national side and an inclusion in their Euro 2012 squad.
The 23-year-old was overlooked by former boss Steve Bruce, but the appointment of Martin O'Neill gave him a chance to prove his ability and his skipper now feels McClean can improve once again for his second term at the club.
"The second season is a big one but James isn't all that young," said Cattermole.
"He will have no problems. It's not like he's come in at 17 or 18- he is ready for it."
