Squad players handed chance

Sunderland, 11:38, September 23, 2008 ,

Roy Keane has indicated that the Sunderland side to face Northampton will be made up of squad players and young hopefuls.

The Black Cats boss is keen to make changes for this evening's Carling Cup tie at the Stadium of Light, with the likes of Phil Bardsley, Carlos Edwards, Danny Collins, Dwight Yorke, Liam Miller, David Healy and Grant Leadbitter all likely to play a part.
Young duo Jack Colback and Jordan Henderson are also being tipped to have a taste of first-team experience, with the League One strugglers heading to Wearside to try and cause another upset having knocked Bolton out in the last round.
Speaking to the club's website, Keane insisted: There is no way we will be disrespecting the opposition, but I will be using my squad a bit more as I have lads who need games and having been training well."
