Star makes Black Cats pledge

Sunderland, 13:02, September 18, 2008 ,

Craig Gordon has played down concerns over Sunderland's start to the season and feels the Black Cats will show their quality.

Roy Keane's men find themselves just outside the relegation zone after collecting four points from their first four games, but Gordon insists confidence is high going into this weekend's Wear-Tees derby at the Stadium of Light.
It was Sunderland's home form that helped them stay up last season and some fans eyeing a £25 free bet, may be concerned that the side have lost both of their home games to date, a 1-0 reverse against Liverpool and a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
But Scotland international Gordon is certainly not getting carried away, telling the BBC: "You can't judge anybody's form on two games.
"We've had one bad game at home and we'll look to re-address that balance against Middlesbrough."
Sunderland's record against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light is not great, losing three of their six encounters during the Premier League era although they did beat Boro 3-2 last season thanks to a last-minute winner.
