Striker set for loan switch
Sunderland, 13:41, September 29, 2008 ,
Sunderland boss Roy Keane says David Connolly is making a good recovery from injury but could send him out on loan.
The striker has been on the sidelines since undergoing surgery on his hip back in May but he is now making good progress and is closing in on a return to action.
Connolly has slipped even further down the pecking order at the club following a host of summer arrivals and Keane says he will offer him the chance to go out on loan to get his sharpness back.
"Dave had a hip operation just before the end of last season and he is making a good recovery," Keane told The Sunday Sun. "It's a slow process, but he is recovering quite well and he is back doing a bit of light jogging.
"I don't like putting dates on things but I would hope that Dave would be back out on the training pitch in the next week or two. He is possibly one of the people that I would look to send out on loan.
"He needs to play because he has missed an awful lot of games. It's something we'll look at when he is available."
