Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is hoping to persuade Blackburn's winger Junior Hoilett to join him in the North East in the summer.
The Canadian international is out of contract at Ewood Park in the summer and, despite the fact they would love to keep him, the chances of him signing a new deal looks remote.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is also said to be very keen to land the player who will be able to move on for a fraction of what he would command on the open market and clubs from across Europe are also monitoring the situation.
Champions League finalists Bayern Munich and French club Marseille are also in the race to land the 21-year-old forward.
