Sunderland have been dealt another blow in their search for a new frontman after Wolves rejected an improved offer for Steven Fletcher.
Martin O'Neill has been looking to bring Fletcher into his squad ahead of the new season, but now a fresh bid has been turned down by the Championship side. Fletcher submitted a written transfer request last week after Wolves knocked back the Black Cats' offer of £12million. The Scotland International who scored 12 times in the Premier League last campaign has been struggling with a minor ankle injury, but was back training with the Molineux outfit yesterday. Stale Solbakken is understood to value Fletcher in excess of £15 million and sees the negotiations as detrimental to Wolves winning promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
