Sunderland striker back within four weeks

Sunderland, 13:01, September 17, 2008 ,

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has said he is hopeful he will return to action in October after overcoming a knee injury.

The Trinidad and Tobago international striker had picked up the problem back - which many thought would keep him out until next year - back in June playing for his country against England.
However Jones has made a rapid recovery and is hopeful he can be back playing for the Black Cats by October the 18.
"I'm trying to get fit for the Fulham game (October 18)," Jones told the Northern Echo.
"I went from having a bad injury, to it scaling down, this means I could return much earlier than first feared.
"I am starting to run again and that is a big relief because it has been frustrating having to sit out the past few weeks."
