Trio chase midfielder

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is still hoping to add Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Diame to his squad for next season.

The Black Cats boss knows he will have to fight of interest from West Ham in the free transfer, as their boss Sam Allardyce looks to add to his squad for their own Premier League campaign. If it came to a straight fight over wages for the Diame then it could be a struggle for O'Neill, as West Ham appear to have plenty of cash to splash ahead of their Premier League return and they are not alone in showing an interest in the former Wigan man. Diame has also been interesting Liverpool's new boss Brendan Rodgers, who is looking to stamp his own mark on the Reds squad before the season starts, so O'Neill knows moving soon could be key to getting a deal done.
