Winger interest revealed
Sunderland, 14:32, August 23, 2010 ,
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has confirmed his interest in Charles N'Zogbia but claims his club are yet to speak to Wigan about him.
N'Zogbia's future at the DW Stadium remains shrouded in doubt and, although boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed suggestions he has fallen out with the player, Wigan will sanction the Frenchman's departure if an acceptable bid is received.
Sunderland may have to offload personnel first before they can afford to table a bid for the highly-rated winger who Bruce previously signed for the Latics, despite recently selling Kenwyne Jones to Stoke for £8m.
"I like Charles, but I think it would be unwise of me to get involved with that one," Bruce said. "We haven't had any contact or made contact with Wigan as such. It's certainly media fiction in a lot of respects.
"I would like to bring a couple of faces in but whether that is possible at the moment, I'm not quite sure. But I would like the chance to, if that is possible."
