Winger talk resurfaces

Sunderland, 09:28, September 26, 2008 ,

Sunderland are back in the hunt for Reading winger Steven Hunt after Royals boss Steve Coppell hinted he could be sold.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland winger was expected to join Everton in the summer but, despite David Moyes baulking at the £5million asking price at the time, it is thought he may well be back with a new offer in January.
Sunderland also want Hunt and they had a bid turned down for the player, who is determined to show the world that he is good enough to play at the top level. And Coppell said it would be no surprise if a Premier League club did agree to pay up in January.
He said: "Stephen is determined to make someone think he's worth that kind of money and in today's market I have to say he is great value. His attitude after he didn't go in the last window has been superb.
"He is determined to get the most out of his career and unfortunately for us we are not in the Premier League. If a big club comes along we don't have a right to stop a player from bettering himself."
