Huw Jenkins says it will take a 'momentous effort' from Swansea's new manager to keep the club moving forward.
Michael Laudrup is still favourite with the bookies to replace Brendan Rodgers at the Liberty Stadium but Ian Holloway, Gus Poyet and Graeme Jones are also still in the frame for the job.
Jenkins is due back from a short holiday in Cyprus this week and it is hoped that the new man will be in place by the weekend.
It is still anyone's guess who will take charge but whoever it is has a big job on their hands to fill the boots of Rodgers and take the club forward following an outstanding debut season in the Premier League.
"Our aim at this club is always to keep progressing," Jenkins said. "But having said that, we cannot get away from the reality that it is going to take a momentous effort to get everything moving forward again next season.
"There is no doubt that we face another massive challenge once again to compete in the Premier League."
