Swansea are stepping up their interest in Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez after reports in Spain claimed contact had been made.
Boss Michael Laudrup has money to spend following the sale of Joe Allen to Liverpool and a chunk of the £15million received could go on the talented Hernandez.
Doubts surround the future of Scott Sinclair who continues to be linked with Manchester City and although Laudrup is confident of keeping hold, Hernandez would be a more than adequate replacement if he left.
The 27-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League and it would be a real coup for the club if the one-time Liverpool target could be enticed to the Liberty Stadium.
Reports in the Spanish press say an enquiry has already been made for the player and Swansea are likely to follow that up with a bid if offered any sign of encouragement.
