Spurs in for Allen

Swansea midfielder Joe Allen is in demand after Tottenham stepped up their interest in an attempt to hijack Liverpool's bid.
Liverpool are already thought to have failed with one offer of £12.5million for the midfielder as Swansea hold out for more and Brendan Rodgers is expected to make an improved bid. However, Tottenham's interest could throw a spanner in the works for Rodgers, who has already lost out to Spurs once this summer when Gylfi Sigurdsson opted for White Hart Lane. The two clubs could now do battle again and that is good news for Swansea, as it means there is a good chance a bidding war could start and the price will get hiked up. As for Allen himself, the Welshman is refusing to discuss his future and is staying focused on Team GB and the Olympics. "I am here representing Team GB at the moment - that is all my focus is on," the 22-year-old revealed. "Playing well in the Olympics and doing as well for Team GB as possible."
