Swansea have revealed their anger at Liverpool's pursuit of Joe Allen but say other clubs are also interested in the midfielder.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign the midfielder and has made an approach despite promising not to try and sign any Swansea players within 12 months of leaving the Liberty Stadium. Rodgers has gone back on his word and that has infuriated Swansea, who insist they are under no pressure to sell and will only do so if it is in the club's best interests. Reports that a £15million deal had been agreed between the two clubs now appear to be well wide of the mark and other clubs, including Tottenham again said to be keen. A spokesman for the club "Swansea can confirm that Liverpool have expressed an interest in Joe Allen, despite a written agreement with Liverpool not to approach any players within the 12-month period of former manager Brendan Rodgers leaving for Anfield. "There has also been interest from other clubs regarding his possible availability and the club is due to speak to Joe, as originally planned, about the situation when he returns from GB (Olympic) duty. "Fortunately the club is in a financial position where it does not need to sell any of its players and will continue to work in the best interests of its supporters, who are our priority, and the club to provide new manager Michael Laudrup with the best opportunity to be successful in the forthcoming Premier League campaign."
