Youngster targets first-team run

Swansea defender Ben Davies has vowed to fight for the right to remain in the first team for the rest of the season.
The 19-year-old has been drafted in at left-back following the horror injury to Neil Taylor that forced him out for the rest of the season and the youngster is keen to make the position his own. Davies has fitted in well despite the fact Swansea are on a bad run and he hopes to keep his place even though former FC Twente full-back Dwight Tiendalli is breathing down his neck. Whether Davies will be able to see out the season remains to be seen but he is willing to give it his best shot. "If needs be I'll play all season, but it all comes down to Michael Laudrup and what he wants to do," said Davies. "Some people think, as a young player, it's impossible to play every week because I might get worn out. "At the moment I'm happy to play every week and do the best I can. The manager's shown a bit of faith in me and that's only down to how I've been playing. "Hopefully if I can keep on playing well, I'll have more of a chance to play games."
