Djokovic suffers shock defeat
Novak Djokovic suffered a shock three sets defeat to Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the Madrid Open.
World number 28 Dimitrov had never taken a set of Djokovic in their two previous meetings but battled cramp to seal a 7-6 6-7 6-3 victory in three hours and four minutes.
To make things worse for Djokovic, he suffered a re-occurrence of an ankle injury he initially suffered on Davis Cup duty last month.
The world number one needed a medical timeout midway through the second set and finished the game with heavy strapping on his ankle.
He saved a match point in the second set tie-break before taking the set himself to level the game, but looked off the pace in the decider as his 21-year-old opponent sealed the biggest win of his career.
Dimitrov will play either 15th seed Stanislas Wawrinka or Colombia's Santiago Giraldo in the last 16.
