Federer and Nadal progress
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are through to the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open, after straight-sets wins in Miami.
World number one Nadal made light work of fellow Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez, winning 6-3 6-3, to set up a clash with either Alexandr Dolgopolov or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the next round.
Federer also sealed a place in the last eight with a 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 success over Juan Monaco and will now face Belgian qualifier Oliver Rochus, who beat Mikhail Youzhny 1-6 6-3 6-3.
The Swiss ace feels he is playing well without hitting the heights, adding: "I'm playing well enough to get deep into the tournaments and then that's where I consider whether I'm playing fantastically."
Meanwhile, seventh seed Tomas Berdych has joined the big names in the quarters, after last year's Wimbledon finalist disposed of Carlos Berlocq, 7-6 (10-8) 7-5.
The man from Czech Republic will now face Florian Mayer in the last 16, after the German knocked out Spain's 11th seed Nicolas Almagro 6-1 3-6 6-1.
