Ill Watson pulls out of Fed Cup
Heather Watson has confirmed she will miss Britain's Fed Cup tie against Argentina as she continues to recover from glandular fever.
The 20-year-old was forced to miss the Family Circle Cup in South Carolina last week after blood tests confirmed she was at the "tail end" of the fever.
It was hoped she would recover in time to head to Buenos Aires with the rest of the Great Britain team later this month as they take on Argentina for a place in World Group II.
However, the British number two is still suffering from the affects of the fever, with team captain Judy Murray opting for Laura Robson, Johanna Konta, Anne Keothavong and Elena Baltacha instead.
"I am very disappointed not to being able to play Fed Cup," said Watson, who lost her British number one spot to Laura Robson on Monday. "It's a big miss for me and I will not only be missing the tennis but the team spirit and all the fun we have when we are together.
"I know the girls can win it and my thoughts will be with them."
