Nishikori stuns world number one
World number one Novak Djokovic has suffered a shock defeat to Kei Nishikori in the semi-final of the Swiss indoors.
The Japanese player, ranked 32 in the world, reached the final of the event in Basel with 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 win over the Serbian. Although still carrying a niggling shoulder injury, Djokovic was denied for only the fourth time this season, with two of those coming through retirement.
Nishikori will now meet the winner of the second semi-final on Saturday, which is between Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka.
Djokovic will look to bounce back in the Paris Masters which starts on Monday, but is keen to rest before Masters 1000 event takes place in the French capital.
"I don't think I'll be able to train for the next few days," he said. "But I think I'll go straight to Paris."
British number one Andy Murray is expected to join Djokovic next week, but is still feel the strain of the leg injury that ruled him out of the Swiss Indoors.
