Vesnina to face Wozniacki
Elena Vesnina beat China's Shuai Peng to set up a clash with Caroline Wozniacki in the final of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston.
Russian Vesnina came back strongly in the first set against the 11th seed to take it on a tie-break before cruising through the second to book her final place, winning 7-6 (7-4) 6-3.
It certainly has been a tournament of shocks, including Vesnina's win over defending champion Sam Stosur in the quarter-finals, but the 24-year-old is remaining coy on her chances against Wozniacki.
"Caroline is No.1 in the world and she's playing really well. She's a great player and a sweet girl," Vesnina said.
"I've played her a few times and two of those matches were really close, and I won one time, so I know her game pretty well. It depends how I feel and how she plays. I'll think about my gameplan tonight."
Top seed Wozniacki eventually proved too strong for world number eight Jelena Jankovic in the other semi-final, securing a gruelling 6-4 6-4 win to progress as she looks for her third title of the year.
