Anne Keothavong has made it through to the second round of the US Open, where she will play Italy's Francesca Schiavone.
The British number one won her first ever match at Flushing Meadow with a straight sets success over qualifier Alexa Glatch, beating the American 6-2 6-2.
Keothavong qualified directly for the main draw after moving into the world's top 90 players (87th) and took full advantage by sealing a place in the second round - where she will come up against the 25th seed.
The 24-year-old admitted: "I'm obviously pleased with the result. I thought l played a good solid match and am just pleased to be through to the next round.
"She's not to be underestimated, even though I'm ranked higher than her. She's a tricky opponent but I thought I handled her well.
"I feel I'm definitely on the right path. I'm moving forward and feeling confident, feeling good out there."
