Federer roars into Aussie final

Roger Federer is through to face Andy Murray in the final of the Australian Open after demolishing Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Melbourne.

The world number one has looked in ominous form throughout the tournament and he wasted little time or energy, with a 6-2 6-3 6-2 victory over the Frenchman.
Tsonga came into the match full of confidence after beating Novak Djokovic in his last-eight encounter but he was blown away in just 88 minutes by the Swiss ace, who did not have to expend too much energy en route to his 22nd Grand Slam final.
Federer was relieved to get through to the final and felt he was helped by his opponent tiring towards the end of the contest.
"I'm very happy to be through," he said. "It is always difficult to play top players, sometimes it plays out the way you want it to and sometimes you have to work a lot harder.
"It was just so important to win that first set and get that good start. I thought it was quite intense early but maybe he was more fatigued mentally than physically, I think that showed near the end."
And the 15-time 'Slam winner knows he will have to re-think his tactics against Murray on Sunday as the Scot aims to become the first British man to win one of the four big tournaments in almost three-quarters of a century.
"I know that he'd like to win the first title in British tennis in, what is it 150,000 years?" joked Federer. "It would be so nice for him. He's a nice guy.
"I will have to be aggressive. We've had some different types of matches against each other. We sometimes like to jerk around on the court and play some high balls at each other.
"Definitely it will be tactical. It is always a tactical game against him."
