British number two Elena Baltacha, who has never reached the main draw for the US Open, saw off Poland's Anna Korzeniak 7-6 (7-5) 5-7 6-0.
Melanie South also progressed after beating Alberta Brianti of Italy 6-2 3-6 6-3, while Katie O'Brien battled past Croatia's Petra Martic 3-6 6-4 6-0.
There was frustration though for Naomi Cavaday who crashed out to Slovakia's Kristina Kucova, despite winning the first set, she eventually lost 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Britain only have two confirmed representatives in the main draw so far, Andy Murray and Anne Keathovong, who is currently ranked 86th in the world.
