Serena Williams eased into the third round of the US Open with victory over Melinda Czink, but Amelie Mauresmo has crashed out.
Defending champion Williams was in top form in Wednesday's night-session and needed just 53 minutes to dispose of Hungarian Czink, with the American winning 6-1 6-1.
Serena will now face Spain's Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in round three, while sister Venus is also into the third round after a less-impressive victory over Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
The third seed defeated her fellow American 6-4 6-2, but there are concerns over a knee injury with Venus wearing heavy strapping during her success over the world number 124.
French ace Mauresmo though, suffered her earliest US Open exit after going down 6-4 6-0 to highly-rated young Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak.
The 30-year-old Mauresmo admitted afterwards that she will consider her tennis future at the end of the year.
