Andy Murray came from a set down to beat Marin Cilic and has reached the second Grand Slam final of his career at the Australian Open.
The 22-year-old British number one, whose previous Grand Slam final was at the 2008 US Open, managed to find his top gear after a shaky start to see off Cilic 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-2 in three hours and one minute.
Murray will now face the winner of Friday's second semi between Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final on Sunday as he bids to end Britain's 74-year wait for a male Grand Slam singles champion.
The tournament's fifth seed had not dropped a set going into the semi-final, while his Croatian opponent had needed five sets to win three of his matches. And Murray praised Cilic's display in their encounter.
He told he BBC: "He showed incredible guts. He played three five set matches coming into this, and he made it so tough for me.
"He was clearly tired in the end but we're going to have some more great matches in the future."
On the prospect of facing Murray or Tsonga, he added: "It'll be important to play a solid match. Both of them can go through phases when they play incredible tennis. I'm going to need to not leave the ball short because they can both dictate play."
