Andy Murray is into the second round of the Hamburg Masters after a straight sets victory over Russia's Dmitry Tursunov.
The British number one is looking for a confidence-boosting run at the German event after some disappointing results on clay over the past couple of weeks and he looked in decent form with a 6-4 6-1 success over a man who has never tasted success against the Scot.
One break of serve in the first set was enough to take the opener before he powered to victory in the second and the 20-year-old will now play Frenchman Gilles Simon in the second round.
Murray defended his lack of success on clay, suggesting that he has not had that much experience playing on the slower surface.
"I haven't played that many matches on clay so to expect me to play well every single week is a bit much," he said.
"Last week, I lost a really tight match against a good player (Stanislas Wawrinka) and a bit too much was made of it because I felt I had chances against him and didn't play my best tennis.
"I'm getting better on clay and I'm feeling a bit more confident now."
