Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic all booked quarter-final berths in the men's singles tournament at the Olympic Games.
Federer beat Czech Tomas Berdych 6-3 7-6 (7-4) to avenge his defeat to Berdych at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
His big rival Rafael Nadal overcame Russian Igor Andreev 6-4 6-2, as the French Open champion looks to build on the confidence of defeating Federer at Wimbledon last month.
"My feeling is to go on and try to play my best, and I'm close to that," said the 22-year-old Spaniard.
Third seed Novak Djokovic advanced by beating Russia's Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (7-3) 6-3. Djokovic secured the crucial break in game three of the second set and broke again for the match.
Athens bronze-medallist Fernando Gonzalez and Paul Henri-Mathieu of France also came through against Olivier Rochus and Nicolas Kiefer respectively.
