Torquay manager Martin Ling admitted his side's 4-0 home defeat to Leicester in the first round of the Capital One Cup was a "reality check" for his players.
After a good pre-season, Ling was hopeful of causing an upset against their npower Championship opponents, but the Gulls were never really in the game once Lloyd Dyer had given the visitors the lead after 21 minutes. Ling said: "We were well beaten, and we didn't ask Leicester nearly enough questions. "It was a reality check for us, but we made it too easy for them. "We were hoping to pull off a surprise, or at least give Leicester a game, and we didn't do it. "I was hoping we would build on good pre-season performances but it didn't happen."
