Thompson set to continue

Teenage winger Niall Thompson should retain his place in Torquay's starting XI for the Devon derby against Plymouth.

The first-year professional has taken advantage of Lloyd Macklin's injury problems to make two first-team appearances so far, including a man-of-the-match performance in the win against Rochdale a fortnight ago. And with Saturday likely to come too soon for Danny Stevens, Thompson is expected to make his third bow for the Gulls. Fellow winger Stevens is yet to play this season after suffering a thigh strain in pre-season, but is hopeful of a place on the bench for the visit of Argyle. Elsewhere, Aaron Downes is in line for a recall after serving a one-match suspension for his red card against Dale as Torquay go into the match with confidence.
